If there is even a consideration of approving this increase, then there needs to be a discussion for a development to allow another electric company into VT to allow the residents to choose who they want to provide them with their power source. This continual request for increases is getting out of hand and who is making the "money" off the back of hard-working Vermonters, those that run GMP. Potentially, they should take a salary cut or build a better budget structure. NO increase. Acknowledged

i am a seasonal resident of the area in which this tariff increase has been proposed. I already pay very high taxes and the cost of maintain my property is also high as is the cost of everyday essentials due to inflation. I am recently widowed and I am retired so I do not have the income to support an increase of $10+/ month. Please find another way to offset the expenses that GMP is looking to consumers to cover. Thank you. Acknowledged

I oppose a rate increase for Green Mountain Power service for Vermonters at this time. Currently property taxes and budgets are of issue with double digit increases. Vermonters can’t afford utility increases on top of that. Green Mountain power was a $777 million corporation in 2023. Are we increasing to meet the needs of the company or are we increasing in order to increase profits? Vermonters can’t afford more. Filed

Many of us are opposed to the high and steady increases. A monopoly has been created that holds us ratepayers hostage as we have nowhere else to buy our electricity. Already over the last 26 years Efficiency VT has profited off the 275,000 of us. We can't be further shouldered with funding the renewable energy initiative. Perhaps look to the owners of GMP/VT Gas Systems in Canada to fund infrastructure. VTers are getting taxed out of our beautiful home state already. Please deny this increase. Filed

Vermonters are being squeezed from every direction. Increases should be no more than current inflation which is supposedly under 3%. Filed

I am opposed to this increase in the base rate - which is projected to increase an average residential user by $120 per year. 1. This would impact low-income households disproportionately to their income and possibly use. 2. By setting the increase to the base rate, the increase allows heavy users unlimited access at the expense of those who work to conserve. 3. Conservation is futile if base rates increase by this much! Any increases should be tied to wealthy indiscriminate users. Acknowledged

Greed. When people in power cannot restrict themselves from taking "more," just because they can, it collapses communities. When corporations are making their admins rich, when retirement packages are offered in the millions (Mary Powell)...it's all about greed. GMP is a monopoly. Vermonters do not have options. The cost of living is astronomical, we're about to see a significant tax increase, and now THIS? No. Pinch pennies, reduce admin salaries, and make it work like the rest of us. Acknowledged

It is a shame that the PUC and DPS allow public comments pro forma and don't really care what the public has to say about the annual GMP increase requests. If both boards really cared, they would deny these requests, given that the economic situation for most people is already dire enough. However, just in the unlikely case anyone reads these comments and puts them into consideration, don't allow the rate increase. Filed

I understand that utilities want more money. So do I. I live on social security and when we get an increase they take it away when they also increase the Medicare deduction. Vermont is in a bad way and increasing prices every chance they(GMP) get does not help us. There has to be limits on these increases. I cannot afford taxes, utilities, insurance and food anymore. Something has to give. Please consider the less fortunate people in Vermont. Acknowledged

I am opposed to this increase in the base rate. This increase impacts fixed and low income households unfairly. As a retiree on Social Security, I cannot afford to pay more for my electricity. We pinch Pennie’s in every way we can, and that includes carefully conserving our energy usage. Please place this burden on commercial users or rates per KWH, so those of us who conserve energy are NOT penalized for those who do not! Acknowledged

If approved, this base rate change would subject Vermonters to a 14.85% increase in the base rate in 24 months. To look back further, the base rate was 17.11 cents/KWh in 2016; with this increase the base rate would have jumped roughly 400% in a decade. This is a tremendous burden to Vermont residents, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and municipalities, who struggle while GMP's corporate parent posts a 26% increase in stock value this year alone. The PUC should reject this request. Filed

I have resided in Vermont State for 6 years now, having moved from New York. The provider there was National Grid. I am retired and disabled, with limited income. Present kilowatt price is .21457, with a requested 7.50 % increase. This is way higher than I've ever paid in over 60 years. PUC must finally show who they represent: the citizens or the power company. Stop acting like the United States Congress. Pops Donaldson Acknowledged

Please consider the constituents of Vermont that are already voicing concerns about affordability in this state. Electric is being pushed as the method for everything these days, but the users have no options into providers therefore there is no competitive rates. Something needs to be adjusted here and it should not be another burden on the residents of Vermont! It seems these increases just get approved and pushed through there needs to be pushback on this. I am opposed to approving GMP’s requested rate increase. The increase is well above the current inflation rate. GMP’s change in rates paid to homeowners with solar generation have not matched their rate increases and have in fact created strong disincentives for solar and/or battery backup. This rate increase needs to be accompanied by higher solar offsets. GMP executives also need a pay cut if they can’t manage their cost effectively. As it is, they are overpaid. Filed

My wife and I are retired on fixed income, not poor by any means; We do however strongly oppose the 7.5% increase proposed. Vermonters cannot afford to keep paying abnormally inflated rates for utilities especially since we are a captive audience. We do not have a choice in power companies to our location so there is no competition. Same with Vt Gas which also asks for and is granted every increase they ask for. The rate of inflation is about 2.5% and that should be the overriding factor. Acknowledged

I would like to echo the two other comments left at this time. The increase in price to average consumers would be challenging particularly for those of use who have to already be incredibly careful to conserve energy and keep our bills down. Furthermore, while I could not find exact figures, the company doesn’t seem to be having difficulty paying its top level employees and investors. They have a monopoly in the states and the price of power is already challenging for many families. Filed

I am opposed to this increase in the base rate - which is projected to increase an average residential user by $120/month, for the following reasons: 1. This impacts low-income households unfairly and is not a progressive increase. a. I strive to pinch every penny possible, and that includes carefully conserving my energy use to save even $5, $10 per month. b. Conservation is futile if base rates increase by this much! Please place this burden on commercial users or rates per KWH. Acknowledged

I would like to echo the last comment left by Lisa Liotta. Asking the average household consumer to bare the burden of an additional 10 dollars a month is an unfair ask, especially in this economy. This burden should absolutely be borne by commercial properties, not the already struggling average home. Filed

Every year GMP asks for a rate increase and at least 2 increases on various extraneous fees. One of their classic arguments are projects that will save ratepayers money which never happens. Rates never go down. It would be nice if the PUC would protect ratepayers and say no to this request. In addition it would be nice if ratepayers could choose which power company they could use. I have had enough of GMP and their greed. I wish I could ask for 7.5% increase in my wages. Filed

In recent years there has been an incentivized push for residents to convert to electric ie vehicles, mowers, utilities, etc. As a result, the increased demand has resulted in unprecedented increases in our electric bills. I did not fall for these scams. I understand that these “green” deals have never been the solution to climate issues. I’ve always been extremely conservative with all resources. Yet I’ve been forced to pay more for liberal consumption. Please stop taking advantage of me! Acknowledged
