I object to this BESS project due to its proximity to residential neighborhoods. In addition to the risk of fire, I would point out the resulting noise pollution. BESS inverters create a constant humming that will be annoying to the many people already living nearby. Moreover, the Hathaways bought the abutting property and planned to build 5 new homes, but a BESS project will devalue the homes & kill that plan. Our city desperately needs more housing, not noise pollution and devalued properties. Filed

As a Vergennes property owner and Panton resident, I want to submit my support of this BESS project. Too often, projects are derailed by a single loud opposing neighbor. This project would serve Vergennes, Vermont, and ultimately, the planet. We need to take a broad view of the importance of renewable energy and supporting infrastructure. As such, I hope that this project, and others like it, are able to proceed. Filed

Vergennes has more than one loud voice opposing this project. A pettion gathered 250 names, and that did not even represent everyone. Plenty of people see the dangers. The explosive dangers are only one troubling aspect in a project so close to buildings. I will also say that the project seems to be sited on an old Native American burial ground. Is that even legal? In my attachment, I also lay out dangers of high volumes of traffic. See attached file. Filed

Vermont needs this BESS project and more projects like it. DPS should encourage and help other utilities build BESS. Please allow this project to move forward. https://formenergy.com/ Filed

I continue to assert that this project is not appropriate for the proposed site. Please see position paper attached. Filed

I support the proposed battery storage facility in Vergennes. Across the country, battery storage has proven to be a safe and effective way to make the grid more reliable and affordable. At a time when electricity is getting more expensive and extreme weather threatens reliability, I appreciate that utilities like Green Mountain Power have been proactive in finding solutions such as battery storage. I understand that increased battery capacity is necessary if we are to transition to clean energy. This project, however, is planned for an urban neighborhood. If there is a lithium-ion fire, all it will take is as windy day to spread fire to the whole neighborhood. I grew up in unfortunate Pacific Palisades, California, which burned to the ground last year. The fire fighters reported hearing frequent explosions as the lithium batteries in cars burned. Pollution in the air and our water! NO! Filed

I oppose the proposed lithium-ion BESS in Vergennes due to its unsafe siting 150 ft from homes. These systems carry fire, explosion, toxic plume, and runoff risks. I believe volunteer fire capacity, groundwater protection, buffering, and decommissioning safeguards must be addressed. This industrial use is incompatible with nearby residential zoning in my opinion. We do not want this in our little city. Please see the attached file for my full comment and analysis. Filed

I would very much like to see the BESS project succeed. It would make electricity in Vergennes more affordable, reliable, and green. Health & safety risks are minimal (there have been a lot of advancements). You would be putting this town and adjoining towns in great danger with this project!! We don't want it. These are HIghly Explosive, Catch fire easily, cannot be extinguished easily. Fire chief warns against them. They Emit toxic Fumes, Poison Waterways, endanger wildlife, emit a constant loud hum, and of course compromise new housing. WE DO NOT WANT THIS! Filed

There is erroneous info in the advance notice to recipients entitled. In the aesthetic assessment, it states "there is vegetation between the Project and residences to the north, east, & south that will remain and will buffer and filter views of the Project from residences on Panton Rd, West St, and W. Main St." The 78 West Main St. property has proposed to the City a 5-hojme development in the back said property that defies this statement along with 150' reference to nearest residence. Filed
